RIM Launches Entry Level Blackberry 7 Smartphones In India

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Research In Motion (RIM) is launching BlackBerry 7 smartphones in India. The BlackBerry Curve 9220 offers BlackBerry messaging and social-centric features, not to mention the Blackberry brand-value association, but has a modest price tag, clearly to attract new customers to a entry-level Blackberry. BlackBerry 7.1 OS supports BlackBerry services and the smartphone’s built in Wi-Fi can provide Internet browsing without incurring mobile data usage costs. It also includes a built-in FM radio, and listening to the FM radio does not require a data plan or use data services.

Carlo Chiarello (SVP, Smartphone Business, Research In Motion): India is a very important market for RIM.

India has the world’s second-largest mobile phone user-base with over 903 million cell phone users as of January 2012.
