Red Hat and Eurotech launch open source IoT cloud platform project

Red Hat and Eurotech, a provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) platforms and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, have launched a new, open source Eclipse Foundation project to manage IoT edge devices, called Eclipse Kapua.

Eclipse Kapua provides a web-based administration console and is accessible through RESTful API for application integration. It provides a modular integration platform for IoT devices and smart sensors. Aggregated real-time data streams from the edge can be archived for historical analysis or flexibly routed towards enterprise IT systems and applications.

Eurotech is contributing its existing code base for its Everyware Cloud IoT cloud integration platform to the Kapua project, which is in addition to the company’s past contribution of its Everyware Software Framework (ESF) under the Kura project.
