RealNetworks has launched Kontxt, a product that offers text messaging management on mobile networks. Kontxt can help carriers to route and prioritize messages, says the company. For example, Kontxt can distinguish between two-factor authorization (2FA) messages, which require urgent delivery; promotional messages, which could be delivered when network congestion is low; and fraudulent messages, which should be blocked, reported and analyzed, according to RealNetworks.
Kontxt uses machine learning algorithms to identify the intent and origin of messages, even when message metadata is spoofed or otherwise misrepresented, says the company.
Available for commercial evaluation and testing, Kontxt can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud, or as a fully managed service.
According to mobile intelligence research firm Mobilesquared, Application-to-Person (A2P) message volume will double to three trillion by 2020. However, as A2P volume accelerates, unmanaged delivery may represent a loss of potential revenue in the wireless sector. Mobilesquared estimates worldwide potential revenue lost to gray-route message traffic is currently about $15 billion per year.
