Private equity firm Thoma Bravo to buy Sophos for $3.9 billion

US-based private equity firm Thoma Bravo, has made an offer to acquire cyber security company Sophos for approximately $3.9 billion. According to a statement by Sophos, its board of directors have “stated their intention to unanimously recommend the offer”.

With a 40-year history, Thoma Bravo has acquired more than 200 software and technology companies representing more than $50 billion of value, according to a statement from the company.

Sophos protects more than 400,000 organizations of all sizes in more than 150 countries from cyberthreats, according to the company.
