PARC Selected by ARPA-E For OPEN 2012 Program

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

PARC, a Xerox company, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) to enter the OPEN 2012 program award negotiations for developing an innovative manufacturing process for lithium-ion batteries.

PARC’s printing process for printed integral batteries would manufacture narrow stripes within battery layers that could improve the amount of energy storage allowing an extended electric vehicle driving range.

Through its OPEN 2012 program, ARPA-E seeks out transformational, breakthrough technologies that show fundamental technical promise but are too early for private-sector investment. The selected projects encompass 11 technology areas in 24 states.
