Opera has started featuring a power saving mode in its browsers, available in the developer stream. Opera developer tests possible new browser features before the functionalities become mainstream. The new mode extends laptop battery life by up to 50% compared to earlier versions of the Opera browser and to Google Chrome, says the company.
Battery saving on Opera for computers is possible thanks to optimizations, such as reducing activity from background tabs, adapting page-redrawing frequency, and tuning video-playback parameters, according to Opera.
