Nokia plans to reduce up to 10,000 positions globally by the end of 2013. The company says it is beginning the process of engaging with employee representatives in accordance with country-specific legal requirements.
The news in headcount reductions come in as part of a larger corporate restructuring the Finnish handset maker is undertaking; which includes selling off its luxury mobile phones unit Vertu, changes in the company’s senior management, and acquisition of the intellectual assets from imaging company Scalado.
