Comcast and Netflix have signed an interconnection agreement, whereby Netflix is paying Comcast money to provide its customers a smoother Netflix video experience. Terms of the agreement, which spans multiple years, were not disclosed.
The companies have established a more direct connection between Netflix and Comcast similar to other networks, as part of the deal. This connection can also scale up to allow for future growth in Netflix traffic.
Netflix receives no preferential network treatment under the agreement, according to a statement by the two companies released on Sunday. The two companies say they have worked collaboratively over many months, to come up with the deal.
