Microsoft is closing all retail outlets; moving to online shopping

Microsoft is closing Microsoft Store physical locations, the company said in a statement. The company’s retail team members will serve customers from Microsoft corporate facilities instead.

Microsoft says it will continue to invest in its digital storefronts on Microsoft.com, and stores in Xbox and Windows. The combined reach of the online store reaches 1.2 billion people every month in 190 markets, says Microsoft.

The company will also ‘reimagine spaces that serve all customers, including operating Microsoft Experience Centers in London, NYC, Sydney, and Redmond campus locations’. Microsoft did not divulge what the effects of the reimagining will look like.
