OnePlus has launched the CyanogenMod-based OnePlus One cell phone. What is umm CyanogenMod? “It is an enhanced open source firmware distribution for smartphones and tablet computers based on the Android mobile operating system,” according to the official definition. You can read more about CyanogenMod here.

The One uses CyanogenMod 11S, and lets users mix and match thousands of themes. As far as hardware goes, the One cell phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with quad-core CPUs at speeds of up to 2.5GHz per core. The speed makes it the world’s current fastest available processor in a smartphone, says OnePlus.

The One also uses a custom Krait CPU architecture, integrated 4G LTE connectivity, Qualcomm Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB of LP-DDR3 RAM. The phone sports a 3100 mAh battery, which runs for more than a full day of use.

The One phone will cost $299 for the16GB version and $349 for the 64GB model. The phone will initially be available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom, and the United States.
