Medusa raises $8M

Medusa, providers of an e-commerce platform that runs on JavaScript and touts itself as an open source Shopify alternative, has raised an $8 million seed round.

The investment was led by LocalGlobe and Dawn Capital. Anthony Casalena (Squarespace CEO and founder), Nicolas Dessaigne (Algolia founder), and Scott Williamson (Ex-CPO Gitlab) also participated in the funding round.

Medusa operates remotely, but is incorporated in Denmark. It will move the company along with part of the team to the US as part of the seed financing, said Medusa in a statement.
