Lightbend Closes $20 Million Series C Funding

Lightbend (formerly Typesafe), the company behind the Reactive Platform that includes the Akka, Play and Lagom Frameworks as well as the Scala programming language, has closed a $20 million Series C funding round led by Intel Capital. Blue Cloud Ventures also participated in the round, along with previous investors Bain Capital Ventures, Polytech Ecosystem Ventures and Shasta Ventures. Vibhor Rastogi, director for Enterprise Software at Intel Capital, will join Lightbend’s board.

Lightbuild builds and maintain the Akka message-driven runtime, Play web framework, Lagom Microservices framework, and Scala programming language.
