The Nasdaq CEO traveled out to California. A 28-year old CEO officially launched Internet’s largest IPO. Remotely. Several thousand people cheered. Employees shrugged, and went back to work. They have been told, somewhat jokingly, that the first guy to drive a flashy sports car in the parking lot will be met with a baseball cat. Money is not meritocracy in Menlo Park, California. Not at the Facebook offices, at any rate.
The minutes leading up the final delicious moments was spent, not celebrating, but ‘hacking’. But then, for most of Facebook employees, and quite a few million of its 901 million monthly users, “hacking” or as Zuckerberg said in an interview on ‘60 Minutes’, ” building something very quickly” is celebration.
The first trade will be taking place at 11 am. We hold our respective breath!
