Internet Society Names Kathryn Brown CEO


The Internet Society has appointed Kathryn Brown as its new chief executive officer. Based in the organization’s Reston, Virginia office, Ms. Brown succeeds outgoing CEO Lynn St. Amour.

Ms. Brown brings more than thirty years of experience to her new role, having most recently served as a senior advisor at the Albright Stonebridge Group, and as senior vice president, Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility at Verizon. Earlier in her career, she served in President Clinton’s Administration, where she was involved in policy development.

Ms. Brown received her J.D., summa cum laude, from Syracuse University College of Law and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Marist College. She spent one year studying at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda and in Leeds, UK.

Ms. Brown has served on the advisory boards of the Public Interest Registry, the mPowering Development Advisory board of the ITU, and the USC Annenberg Innovation Lab.
