Intelsat awarded U.S. Army’s first Satellite Communication (SATCOM) as a Managed Service (SaaMS) pilot contract

Intelsat, a global satellite and terrestrial network operator, has been awarded the U.S. Army’s first Satellite Communication as a Managed Service (SaaMS) contract. The agreement introduces a new, managed satellite communications support model for the Army.

The program is designed to provide up-to-date equipment and support, ensuring rapid deployment for various mission requirements.

The contract encompasses comprehensive managed subscription services, enabling connections with commercial teleports and internet services. The solution integrates Intelsat Flex services for geostationary (GEO) connections and collaborates with a commercial low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite service provider for LEO connectivity.

The pilot program promises worldwide coverage, including leased satellite terminals and 24×7 support.
