Intel snags AMD’s Matt Poirier to lead corporate development

Intel has snagged Matt Poirier, former senior vice president of strategy and corporate development at AMD, as the company’s senior vice president of corporate development. Mr. Poirier will join the company’s executive leadership team and report to chief executive Pat Gelsinger.

Mr. Poirier will lead Intel’s corporate development team responsible for advancing and accelerating its business through merger and acquisition opportunities in partnership with the executive leadership team and the board of directors, Intel said in a statement.

Mr. Poirier was with AMD from February to May this year. Prior to joining AMD, Mr. Poirier was senior vice president of corporate development and investor relations at Xilinx. Prior to his graduate studies, Mr. Poirier served in leadership positions as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Poirier holds a Master of Business Administration from UCLA and a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Naval Academy.
