Intel CEO To Lead FAA Drone Advisory Council

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is establishing a broad-based advisory committee that will provide advice on key unmanned aircraft integration issues. The drone advisory committee is an outgrowth of the stakeholder-based unmanned aircraft system (UAS) registration task force and the MicroUAS aviation rule-making committee, said FAA administrator Michael Huerta.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich will lead the Drone Advisory Council. The drone advisory committee is expected to help identify and prioritize integration challenges and improvements, and create broad support for an overall integration strategy.

In another development, the FAA said it plans to make it easier for students to fly unmanned aircraft (PDF) as part of their coursework.
