HPE divests Communications Technology Group business to HCLTech

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced the divestiture of assets from its Communications Technology Group (CTG) business to HCLTech. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions and is expected to close in six to nine months. During that time, HPE intends to hold discussions with HCLTech on an expanded strategic partnership.

HPE will retain its Telco Solutions group, which sits within Aruba Networking, and is part of the former CTG business focused on Operations Support Systems (OSS).

As part of the agreement, approximately 1,500 employees of CTG with telecom industry experience will transfer to HCLTech in various countries — including Spain, Italy, India, Japan and China — to service clients globally.
