HP Launches Slate 2 Tablets For Business Users

Just when you thought HP was finally killing its tablets, the company goes ahead and launches the HP Slate 2 Tablet PC – a slightly better, slightly revamped Touchpad, at a slightly better price – for business users.

The HP Slate 2 Tablet PC features an 8.9-inch diagonal capacitive multitouch display for touch and pen input plus includes a new Swype keyboard (The Swype applet allows data entry via one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard). These tablets come with Intel Atom Z670 processor, and have a battery life of some  six hours. There is also a front-facing VGA webcam, and a 3-megapixel camera on the back, besides a  SD card slot and two USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI port.

Optional accessories and business solutions include an integrated magnetic stripe reader and barcode scanner for retailers.

The HP Slate 2 Tablet PC starts at $699 and is expected to be available worldwide later this month. HP is also launching a new notebook PC, the the HP 3115m targeting business, education and government customers.
