HealthSpot Launches Telehealth System

HealthSpot

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

HealthSpot has developed a telehealth system that provides medical diagnostic technology to patients anytime, anywhere. The HealthSpot Station is a private, walk-in kiosk that provides patients access to diagnosis and treatment by board-certified doctors, via high-definition videoconferencing and interactive digital medical devices.

The HealthSpot Station is an 8-foot by 5-foot, ADA accessible, fully enclosed kiosk furnished with a rolling chair, a desktop with a touch screen, audio system, and a two-way high-definition video screen.

Inside the HealthSpot Station, a scale built into the floor records weight. With the push of a button, the doctor can unlock small cabinets that hold high-tech, digital medical devices that transmit information, audio video and pictures back to them through a secured connectivity FDA Medical Device Data System.

The HealthSpot Station, which complies with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy and security requirements, will automatically create a complete electronic medical record of each visit, supporting continuity of care and collaboration among the healthcare providers.

Targeted locations include retail sites such as grocery stores; hospital systems such as urgent care facilities, emergency rooms, doctor’s offices, specialist offices (dermatology, ENT [ear, nose, throat]); large businesses; rural areas; as well as military locations, college campuses, nursing homes, and more.

With pilots currently in place in Ohio, HealthSpot Stations will begin rolling out in select locations in Q1 2013.
