Greg Joswiak is new head of marketing at Apple; Phil Schiller advances to Fellow

Apple has a new head of marketing. Greg (Joz) Joswiak, vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing for the past four years, will join the executive team as senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing; the Cupertino giant said in a statement.

Mr. Schiller, who has been with the company since 1987, will become an Apple Fellow. In the new role, which reports to the company’s chief executive Tim Cook, Mr. Schiller will continue to lead the App Store and Events, says Apple. Mr. Schiller, a friend of the iconic Steve Jobs, joined Apple when he was 27 years old. He is currently 60.

In a statement, Mr. Schiller said, “It has been a dream come true for me to work at Apple, on so many products I love, with all of these great friends — Steve, Tim, and so many more.” He adds,  “I’ll keep working here as long as they will have me, I bleed six colors, but I also want to make some time in the years ahead for my family, friends, and a few personal projects I care deeply about.”

Mr. Joswiak takes on the role of senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. This organization is responsible for Apple’s product management and product marketing, developer relations, market research, business management, as well as education, enterprise, and international marketing, says Apple.

Mr. Joswiak brings more than 20 years in leadership roles across Apple product marketing and has served as the vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing for the past four years. He has overseen the product management and product marketing for the original iPod and iPhone, says Apple. Mr. Joswiak graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan.
