Google has started construction on a new data center in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, marking a $1 billion investment in UK by the company. The data center, located on a 33-acre site purchased by Google in October 2020, is projected to enhance digital services for Google Cloud customers and Google users in the UK.
The data center is designed to support digital services such as Google Cloud, Workspace, Search, and Maps.
Google has been operating in the UK for over 20 years and employs over 7,000 people in the country.
