Google is extending free domestic calling for Gmail to users in the US and Canada through 2013. For the rest of the world where the service is available, calling will come cheap, but not free.

The announcement was made by Mayur Kamat, product manager with Google, on the Gmail blog.

You can find a list of countries where the Gmail call phone functionality is not available here. You can find Google Voice international calling rates here.
