Google Cutting Jobs At Motorola Mobility

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Motorola Mobility, owned by Google, is laying off some 10 per cent of its people, or about 1,200 employees.  The news was reported by Amir Efrati of the Wall Street Journal on Thursday evening, based on a staff email circulated by the company.

“These cuts are a continuation of the reductions we announced last summer. It’s obviously very hard for the employees concerned, and we are committed to helping them through this difficult transition,” said Motorola.

Google had confirmed last year that Motorola Mobility needed to reduce about 20 per cent of its workforce.  It had acquired Motorola Mobility in May 2012.
