Google Buys In-Page Search Pioneer Apture

Apture has been acquired by Google for an undisclosed sum, and will be joining the Chrome team.  Apture turns flat Web pages into interactive multimedia experiences with its in-page search technology. Its products let users immediately find and browse content from across the Web – in one window.

Founded in 2007, Apture is funded by Clearstone Venture Partners and angel investors including Paul Maritz of VMWare. According to the company, Apture has enhanced over a billion Web pages with Apture products since its launch.
