Gokul Rajaram Joins Square As Product Engineering Lead

Product director of Ads at Facebook, Gokul Rajaram, has joined Square as the company’s Product Engineering Lead. Mr. Rajaram will lead software development for Square Register, a point-of-sale system for businesses, and other products.

Prior to joining Facebook, Mr. Rajaram co-founded Chai Labs, where he acted as CEO, before the company was acquired by Facebook in August 2010. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rajaram was Product Management Director for Google AdSense.

Mr. Rajaram earned a Masters in Business Administration from MIT Sloan in 2001, a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

In the past few months Square has made several key hires, including Mr. Rajaram; Francoise Brougher as Square’s Business Lead; US Trade Representative Demetrios J. Marantis as head of international government, regulatory and policy work; and Paco Vinoly as Design Director.
