General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a subsidiary of General Dynamics, has secured a $922 million contract to modernize the U.S. Central Command’s (CENTCOM) enterprise IT infrastructure. The contract, awarded by the General Services Administration in February, includes a one-year base period and five option years, says the company.
CENTCOM, responsible for military operations and activities with allies and partners in 21 nations across Northeast Africa, the Middle East, Central and South Asia, requires an advanced enterprise IT network environment to support its missions. The modernized infrastructure will connect data and systems to mobile warfighters.
Under the terms of the contract, GDIT will leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to operationalize enterprise data, enhancing decision-making processes. The company will also facilitate CENTCOM’s transition to a new cloud environment and work to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of its networks.
Additionally, GDIT plans to implement zero trust capabilities to strengthen CENTCOM’s cyber defenses and protect against potential cyber threats.
