Former Chief Software Architect Of NBCUniversal Joins Nirvanix

Nirvanix has appointed Dru Borden as chief strategy officer, effective immediately. Mr. Borden joins Nirvanix after stints at CBS and NBCUniversal, where he led core engineering teams that created and implemented software architectures for enterprise applications and media platforms. Mr. Borden will report to Scott Genereux, president and CEO of Nirvanix.

At Nirvanix, Mr. Borden will focus on advancing the company’s technologies for large unstructured content files prevalent in the healthcare, financial services and media & entertainment industries. He will also be focusing on next generation horizontal business solutions for backup, archival and large-scale content collaboration.

Mr. Borden has over 15 years of experience in application development and software architecture. He was vice president, Application Architecture at CBS. Prior to CBS, Mr. Borden was vice president and chief software architect, Media Technologies, at NBCUniversal.

Mr. Borden is also responsible for the creation of NBCU’s cable, satellite and telco user authentication standards and infrastructure that launched during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, which supported in excess of 100 multi-system operators.

Mr. Borden is the co-creator of FLOW – Field Level Operations Watch – an open source Android app that leverages the cloud to generate maps and vital land statistics, providing countries with the ability to record data from tens of thousands of water points around the world in real-time. FLOW is currently in use in over 10 countries across four continents.

Mr. Borden gained application development experience at a variety of companies, including Andersen Consulting, Dell and Xuma.

Mr. Borden has a BBA in MIS from the University of Texas at Austin.
