Facebook Acquires Face Recognition Platform

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Facebook has acquired Face.com says the company in a blog post.  Face.com will be working with Facebook directly and joining the social network. Face.com developers will continue to be supported, at least for the time being. The size of the transaction, or further details of the acquisition were not revealed.

By working with Facebook directly, and joining their team, we’ll have more opportunities to build amazing products that will be employed by consumers – that’s all we’ve ever wanted to do.  :)

Face.com is a technology company operating a face recognition platform.  Through Face.com apps and API services, the company scans billions of photos monthly, and has helped tag hundreds of millions of faces.  Face.com’s facial recognition analytics are able to identify faces well, despite difficult circumstances like poor lighting, poor focus, subjects wearing eyeglasses, facial hair, and even Halloween costumes, says the company.
