DNAnexus Raises $15 Million From Google Ventures, TPG Biotech

 


DNAnexus has raised $15 million from Google Ventures and TPG Biotech. Previous investors First Round Capital, SoftTech VC, K9 Ventures, and Felicis VC, DNAnexus also participated. Geoff Duyk, partner and managing director at TPG Biotech, and Krishna Yeshwant, partner at Google Ventures, have also joined the company’s board. DNAnexus has also shifted its headquarters to Mountain View, and plans to step up on hiring more computer scientists and software engineers.

DNAnexus and Google have also teamed up to improve access to the public repository of the next generation DNA sequencing data contained in the Sequence Read Archive (SRA) database. DNAnexus will provide a freely accessible Web-based search interface for searching and accessing the datasets, while Google Cloud Storage will support the hosting of the SRA data repository. The resources are available at sra.dnanexus.com.
