Dell Continues Shopping Spree With Quest

Dell  is buying Quest Software in a deal reportedly worth $2.4 billion. This is the second largest acquisition in Dell’s corporate history; in 2009, Dell bought Perot Systems for $3.9 billion. The company seems to be on a shopping spree, with five acquisitions in April, Make Technologies, Clerity Systems, Wyse Technology, SonicWall, and AppAssure.

Quest generated $857 million in global revenue based on its fiscal year 2011 results at gross margins of 86 percent and operating margins of 11 percent. Established in 1987, Quest is headquartered in Aliso Viejo, Calif. and serves more than 100,000 customers worldwide, including 87 percent of the Fortune 500. The company has approximately 3,850 employees and operates 60 offices in 23 countries.
