Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint to acquire Tessian

Cybersecurity firm Proofpoint has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Tessian, a company specializing in AI-powered email security. Subject to regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions, the deal is expected to close between late 2023 and early 2024. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Proofpoint focuses on shielding organizations from social engineering attacks with its AI and large language models. These methods have been effective in mitigating risks such as email fraud and supplier-based attacks. By acquiring Tessian, Proofpoint aims to bolster its existing threat and information protection capabilities. Tessian’s technology addresses issues like accidental data loss and risky user behaviors related to email.

The new offerings are expected to integrate natively with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, making it easier for Proofpoint’s channel partners to provide added value to their customers quickly.

Tessian’s product range including Guardian, Enforcer, and Defender will become part of Proofpoint’s offerings upon the completion of the acquisition.

Piper Sandler is acting as the financial advisor to Tessian.
