The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has extended two contracts with ICF for the cloud migration and digital modernization of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) systems. Awarded in the third quarter of 2023, these contracts, valued at $50 million, aim to enhance healthcare monitoring and improvement for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, particularly in nursing homes across the country.
The first contract, worth $26 million for a nine-month term, focuses on transitioning CMS’ Quality Improvement and Evaluation System to the cloud-based Internet Quality Improvement System (iQIES). This move is expected to enhance the system’s quality, security, cost efficiency, usability, and data transparency for regulators, policymakers, and consumers.
The second contract, with a $24 million value and a 13-month term, involves the development of a new cloud-based data collection system, Quality Measures Implementation and Reporting. This system is designed to modernize the data processing and reporting functions of iQIES, aiming to streamline access to critical patient care information for the federal government, states, providers, and other stakeholders.
