Car vending machines come to US

Carvana, an e-commerce platform for buying and selling used cars, has launched another car vending machine.

This time around it is in Louisville, is eight stories tall, and has a 27-vehicle capacity, says the company. This is Carvana’s 25th. such car vending machine in the U.S.

In a statement, Carvana said it is planning for more installations.

How does a car vending machine work? Carvana says, customers can select a day and time by appointment. At the machine, they will meet a customer advocate; and receive a Carvana coin to activate the automated vending process. All vehicles come with a seven-day return policy, says Carvana.

Fun facts: The very first car vending machine was built and launched in Nashville (Tenn.) in 2016, while the tallest machine resides in Tempe (Ariz.) and stands nine stories.
