Culver City is the first location California offering the Smart911 national safety service, for more effective emergency response.  Smart911 allows citizens to enter information through a secure web site that they want to make available to 9-1-1 operators in the event they call 9-1-1.

Mayor Andrew Weissman: I am proud of our City for taking the initiative to explore the opportunities available to us through technology in order to provide better services to our community.

When a citizen makes an emergency call, the data automatically displays on the call takers work station and is also made available to police, fire and EMS in the field. For example, in the event of a fire, fire crews can be aware of such things as how many people live at a home and the location of bedrooms. EMS can know about specific conditions for fast, precise medical treatment.

Smart911 was introduced less than two years ago by Rave Mobile Safety. It is available in 29 states and over 350 municipalities.
