Open-source hardware company Arduino has launched Portenta Hat Carrier, an addition to their Arduino PRO series. The product aims to transform Portenta X8 into an industrial single-board computer (SBC) that is compatible with Raspberry Pi HATs, says Arduino.
The new carrier board also works with Portenta H7 and Portenta C33 system modules. It allows for straightforward expansion to multiple peripherals, such as Raspberry Pi HATs compatible with the Model B 40-pin header, Ethernet, microSD, and USB.
The Portenta Hat Carrier features dedicated JTAG pins to facilitate debugging and comes with an onboard CAN transceiver. The board also includes an extra 8x analog I/Os and a PWM fan connector.
The Portenta Hat Carrier use-cases include robotic motion control, intelligent sorting, anomaly detection, and vehicle monitoring. It is available for order at $45.
