Apply To Y Combinator. No Business Idea Needed.

[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Its that time of the year again, when Y Combinator starts taking new applications for seed funding. This time around, its opening up its applications to include people who do not yet have a business idea. Y Combinator will accept you sans idea; and then help you come up with one.

Y Combinator says its doing this partly because they already were. A lot of the startups they accepted change their ideas completely. Reddit was originally going to be a way to order food over cellphone. Scribd was originally going to be a ridesharing service. You get the picture. Smart people who think they can’t come up with a good startup idea are generally mistaken, says Y Combinator. Almost every smart person has a good idea in them. A good startup idea is simply a significant, fixable unmet need, and most smart people are at least unconsciously aware of several of those. They just don’t know it.

If you think you have no idea yet, but want to be a part of Y Combinator, you can apply here.

Y Combinator, started in 2005, invests a small amount of money (average $18k) in a large number of startups (most recently 65) twice a year. Startups funded by Y Combinator include Reddit, Airbnb, Loopt, Songkick, Dropbox, Justin.TV, among others.
