Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president, Chrome and Apps, is taking over the reins of Android from Andy Rubin. Mr. Pichai will now be responsible for Android, as well as Chrome and Apps, at Google. Mr. Rubin, senior vice president, Mobile and Digital Content at Google, will be working on other projects within the company.
“While Andy’s a really hard act to follow, I know Sundar will do a tremendous job doubling down on Android as we work to push the ecosystem forward,” said CEO Larry Page in a blog post.

Android has a partnership with over 60 manufacturers worldwide. More than 750 million Android devices have been activated, and 25 billion apps have been downloaded from Google Play.
