AMD to Invest $400M in India; open largest design center in Bangalore

Semiconductor giant AMD has announced its plans for substantial growth in India, with an approximate investment of $400 million over the next five years. The investment will primarily focus on establishing a new AMD campus in Bangalore, Karnataka, which is set to become the company’s largest design center. Additionally, AMD intends to create approximately 3,000 new engineering roles by the end of 2028.

The state-of-the-art AMD campus in Bangalore is expected to be operational before the conclusion of 2023. The investment is backed by various policy initiatives of the Government of India, with a special emphasis on supporting the semiconductor industry.

From a mere handful of employees in 2001, AMD’s India workforce has grown to over 6,500 employees. The upcoming 500,000-square-foot campus in Bangalore will bring the total number of AMD office locations in India to ten, spanning cities such as Bangalore, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
