AMD has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Nod.ai, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based company that provides open source compiler-based automation software for optimizing AI models. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Nod.ai’s technology is already deployed in various platforms such as the cloud, edge computing, and endpoint devices, says AMD. The software interacts with AMD architectures like CDNA, XDNA, RDNA, and Zen.
The acquisition of Nod.ai is expected to bolster AMD’s capabilities in providing open software to AI customers. The addition of Nod.ai will also accelerate AMD’s efforts in advancing open-source compiler technology, according to the company.
