Amazon announces $1.31B investment in France

Amazon has announced a new investment of about $1.31 billion (€1.2 billion) in France, which the company says will lead to the creation of over 3,000 permanent jobs in the country.

Amazon’s additional investment in France includes the expansion of Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure in the Paris area, and logistics infrastructure in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The new jobs are in addition to the 2,000 permanent jobs already announced for 2024.

Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than €20 billion in its French operations. The company currently employs more than 22,000 permanent employees in its offices, AWS infrastructure, and logistics sites across the country.

AWS estimates that its €6 billion, 15-year investment plan for the period 2017-2031 to develop its cloud infrastructure in France will contribute €16.8 billion to France’s GDP over this period while supporting an average of 5,271 full-time jobs annually in the local supply chain.
