AI-powered chatbot Mezi raises $9 million

AI-powered chatbot shopping app Mezi, has raised $9 million in Series A funding. Existing investors Nexus Venture Partners participated in the round, along with new investors Saama Capital and American Express Ventures.

Amit Singhal, former SVP and head of Google Search, and Gokul Rajaram, Product Engineering lead at Square, are joining as angel investors in the round.

Mezi was founded by serial entrepreneurs and twin brothers Swapnil and Snehal Shinde, whose last company, the music streaming service Dhingana, was acquired by Rdio. Mezi is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
