Adobe previews generative AI features in Premiere Pro

Adobe has previewed generative AI features within its video editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro, aimed at streamlining video creation and production workflows.

The new generative AI tools, set to be released later this year, will allow users to edit videos by adding or removing objects in a scene and extending existing clips, says Adobe.

The new editing workflows will be powered by a video model that will be part of Adobe’s Firefly AI models, which include Image, Vector, Design, and Text Effects.

Adobe also provided a glimpse into its vision for integrating third-party generative AI models directly into Premiere Pro; allowing customers to leverage video generation models from companies like OpenAI and Runway, as well as Pika Labs, without leaving their workflows.

In addition to the generative AI video tools, Adobe announced the general availability of AI-powered audio workflows in Premiere Pro, set to release in May. These features include interactive fade handles, AI-based audio category tagging, effect badges, and redesigned waveforms in the timeline.
