Adobe Appoints New General Counsel

Adobe Systems has appointed  Michael A. Dillon as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Mr. Dillon succeeds Karen Cottle, who is retiring after a decade as general counsel at Adobe.

With more than 25 years of corporate legal experience, Mr. Dillon comes to Adobe from Silver Spring Networks, a networking solutions provider, where he was general counsel and corporate secretary. Before joining Silver Spring Networks, he spent 14 years with Sun Microsystems, prior to its acquisition by Oracle, serving as general counsel and corporate secretary from 2004 to 2010. Mr. Dillon also previously served as general counsel and corporate secretary of ONI Systems, an optical networking company. Reporting to Adobe president and CEO Shantanu Narayen, Mr. Dillon will join Adobe on Aug. 23, 2012, assuming responsibility for the company’s global legal affairs, public policy interests and compliance operations.

Mr. Dillon holds a juris doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in communications and sociology from the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the State Bar of California.
