Accenture Wins $45M Contract To Spruce Up Healthcare.gov Site

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded Accenture a one-year, $45 million contract to continue technical improvements to the health insurance marketplace website HealthCare.govlaunched on October last year.

Accenture will provide services to support the marketplace to prepare for open enrollment in October 2014 including 24/7 support of the application, eligibility and enrollment functions, generation and transmission of enrollment forms, and features related to special enrollment periods, among other services. Accenture also will develop new capabilities required for future phases of program implementation.

The contractor originally responsible for the website, CGI’s contract expires on February 28. Healthcare IT vendor QSSI was put in charge of the website in October.
