The $47 billion network that’s already obsolete — The Atlantic

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), expected to provide first responders the advanced communication and collaboration technologies they need to do their jobs safely and effectively. Created by Congress in 2012, FirstNet is establishing a nationwide broadband network for public safety, and was a final recommendation of the 9/11 Commission.

However, the network is not ready, and may not get completed at all, Steven Bril of The Atlantic writes.
