SaaS-based web optimization and marketing platform Zarget, has raised a $6 million Series A round of funding. The investment was led by Sequoia India, with participation from current investors Accel and Matrix Partners. Zarget says it plans to use the funds to scale its marketing automation products.
Loggly, a company that provides cloud-based enterprise-class log management solutions, has secured $15 million in Series C venture financing. Harmony Partners led the round, with existing investors Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, Cisco, Data Collective, and True Ventures also participating. This brings the investment raised by the company to date to $33.4 million.
Kinnek, a marketplace for small businesses to find suppliers and manage purchasing, has raised a $10 million Series A round of financing led by Matrix Partners, with participation from previous investors including Sierra Ventures, Version One Ventures, Naval Ravikant, CrunchFund, Richard Chen, TriplePoint Ventures, and Benjamin Ling. The new funds will be used to grow its marketing and engineering capabilities and fuel Kinnek's expansion into new industries, says the company.
Enterprise Platform as a Service (PaaS) provider CloudBees has closed an $11.2 million Series C financing round. The investment was led by Verizon Ventures, the investment arm of Verizon. Existing investors Matrix Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners, as well as new investor Blue Cloud Ventures, also participated.
Bee Cave Games, developer of the Bee Cave Blackjack Casino game, has raised $1.9 million in seed funding from Matrix Partners and Dragonrise Capital. The funds will used to market and expand the Bee Cave Blackjack Casino game on Facebook, iOS and Android, says the company.
Oculus VR has raised a $75 million Series B round of funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. Existing investors Spark Capital, Matrix Partners, and Formation 8 also participated in the round.
Panzura, a provider of global cloud storage solutions, has closed a $25 million Series D funding round. The investment was led by Meritech Capital Partners with participation from existing investors Matrix Partners, Khosla Ventures, Opus Capital and Chevron Technology Ventures. Managing director with Meritech Capital Partners, Paul Madera has joined Panzura's board of directors. The new round of funding brings the company's total backing to $58 million. Panzura grew its customer base by 700 percent in 2012 and has already exceeded 2012 bookings thus far in 2013, says the company.
Cloud-based customer service software provider Zendesk has completed $60 million of new financing. Redpoint Ventures led the $45 million equity financing with participation by Index Ventures, GGV Capital, Goldman Sachs and the company's existing venture capital investors, Charles River Ventures, Benchmark Capital and Matrix Partners. Zendesk has also secured a $15 million facility through Silicon Valley Bank. Zendesk's monthly recurring revenues have grown nearly 500% since the last financing was completed in November 2010, says the company. Over the past 15 months, San Francisco-based Zendesk opened offices in London, Copenhagen, and Melbourne as well as established operations in Tokyo. The company has over 20,000 customers.
The Echo Nest, a music intelligence platform, has closed a $17.3 million financing round led by Norwest Venture Partners. Prior investors Matrix Partners, Commonwealth Capital Ventures, Fringe Partners, Jim Pallotta and board member Michael Brown also participated in this round. Jeff Crowe from Norwest will be joining the company's board of directors. This latest round of funding will help The Echo Nest further strengthen its market-leading position with a focus on international sales and marketing. The financing will also support continued development of 'Fanalytics,' data-driven solutions to better understand music fans. Enterprise content collaboration company Huddle has completed a $24 million Series C round of funding. The financing was led by Jafco Ventures, with participation from DAG Ventures and existing investors Matrix Partners and Eden Ventures. Subrah Iyar, the founder of WebEx, and experienced venture investor Herb Madan also participated in the round. Huddle has raised $40 million in equity funding since the product’s launch in 2007. Polyvore has received $14 million in Series C financing, led by DAG Ventures and with participation from new investors Goldman Sachs and Vivi Nevo (NV Investments). Early Polyvore investors Benchmark Capital and Matrix Partners also participated in this new funding round. Surveillance solutions company VideoIQ has expanded its Series C investment round with an additional $3.5 million from its existing investors Atlas Venture, Matrix Partners and Tenaya Capital. The incremental funds bring the total Series C round to $11M and will be used to further support the expansion of the sales and product development teams globally, says the company.
WI Harper Group, a Chinese early growth and expansion stage venture capital firm has invested $4 million in a co-lead round with Matrix Partners into SNS Plus, an international publisher and distributor of worldwide games with a focus on the Asian market. The $12.5 million raised by SNS+, a Taiwan based company, is significant as it's an amount that has not been seen in Taiwan's early stage Internet related companies for over a decade. Matrix Partners India announced that it has invested as the sole investor in the first institutional round of funding of U2opia Mobile. U2opia creates social applications that help users access their social networks on mobile. Matrix Partners India is an investment firm with INR 3,000 crore under management. The firm invests in companies targeting the Indian domestic market with a sector independent investment strategy focused on generating exceptional returns, according to the company.
