Obama Nominates Facebook VP For Holocaust Memorial Council Member

President Barack Obama has nominated Elliot Schrage, Facebook’s vice president of Communications and Public Policy, as Member, United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

President Barack Obama:  These dedicated and accomplished individuals will be valued additions to my Administration as we tackle the important challenges facing America.

Before joining Facebook, Mr. Schrage was the vice president of Global Communications and Public Affairs at Google. Prior to joining Google, he worked as an advisor at the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations, and  to several global corporations on issues of corporate social responsibility. Immediately preceding, Mr. Schrage worked as a senior vice president of global affairs for Gap. Before joining Gap, he served as managing director of the New York office of Clark & Weinstock, a public policy and management consulting firm.

Since 1990, Mr. Schrage has also served as an adjunct professor at Columbia University Business School and Columbia Law School.

Mr. Schrage has also served on the board of the International League for Human Rights and was a trustee for the Harvard Law School Association of New York.  He received a B.A. from Harvard University, an M.P.P. from the Kennedy School of Government, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Ranee Ramaswamy (founder and co-artistic director of the Ragamala Dance Company), Tom A. Bernstein (president and co-founder of Chelsea Piers), Amy Friedkin (president of the board of directors of ISRAEL21c), Susan E. Lowenberg (president of Lowenberg Corporation), Deborah A. Oppenheimer (Executive vice president of NBCUniversal International Television Production), Cheryl Peisach (founder and CFO of Passion Growers), and Richard S. Price (chairman and chief executive officer of Mesirow Financial), will be joining Mr. Schrage as fellow members on the Council.
