Hybrid Storage Maker Nimble Raises $40.7M

Nimble Storage, a provider of flash-optimized, hybrid storage solutions, has received $40.7 million in a mezzanine funding round led by Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners. Existing Nimble investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and Artis Capital Management participated in the round, as well as GGV Capital.

The company says it will use the funding across its operations, with major emphasis on propelling growth in sales, engineering and international market development. The new round also positions Nimble to broaden its European presence and to expedite plans to establish a presence and partnerships in the Asia Pacific region.

Since first shipping in August, 2010, Nimble Storage has sold over 1,000 deployments. In the most recent quarter, Nimble Storage acquired more than 175 new customers.

Nimble Storage was founded by former Data Domain and NetApp executives Varun Mehta and Umesh Maheshwari. To date, Nimble Storage has raised $98 million.
