Chinese telecom behemoth Huawei has launched what the company calls the fastest smartphone in the world, the Ascend P2.

The Ascend P2 offers download speeds of up to 150 Mbps,  and runs Android 4.1.  The Ascend P2 models evoke the image of an infinity pool, says Huawei. Using embedded technology, its HD IPS LCD touchscreen is 4.7 inches and its thickness is only 8.4 mm. The display calibrates brightness automatically, regardless of the lighting conditions.

The Huawei Ascend P2 also includes a 13 MP rear camera with HDR and BSI sensor and a 1.3MP front camera. A dedicated camera button on the side of the phone allows instant access to shooting.

With its NFC module, the Ascend P2 allows electronic payments, and can act as an electronic ticket.

The Ascend P2 will also be available globally in the second quarter of 2013.
